I have been traveling to Vegas for years. I recall the first trip with my friend Laura….we stayed at the Imperial Palace and had no clue what time it was for three days. I was hooked from then on. I visit Vegas three times a year on average now, but a few years in a row I was there six or seven times! I have friends who have lived in Vegas off and on. Many of them have taught me these tricks to a frugal Vegas vacation.

Before you leave town, be sure to check out two websites you are familiar with at home. Groupon and Restaurant.com. Get $25 GC for $10. You have to register for the Las Vegas Groupon separate from your hometown link you use all the time. Be sure to do this on Groupon a few weeks in advance…then you can stack up your Groupon deals and use them in Vegas. I noticed they offered $12 for Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum (normally $25) and $10 for unlimited amusement park rides at the Sahara Hotel (normally $23).

Restaurant.com is the best…their site is national and you can drill down into restaurants just on the Vegas strip. And there are a LOT of them. Fancy ones, casual, you name it! I was just in Vegas last week and was able to use two of their certificates at two amazing restaurants. At the Venetian’s Valentino I got to catch up with Julie and Tina at dinner AND use a $25 Restaurant.com certificate. At Eneteco, the restaurant owned by the famous Crocs-wearing Mario Batali…Laura, Tina and I feasted and took $25 off the tab! It just took a little pre-planning before I left on the trip. The awesome thing about the Restaurant.com certificates is they NEVER expire now. So if you find yourself with unused certificates at the end of your trip, no worries…keep ‘em in your travel file and use them next time.

How about traveling lately with liquids? I am constantly confused by what TSA thinks is right or wrong. I have stopped bringing my fancy toiletries and instead head to Sephora in Vegas. Two really convenient locations: Venetian and Planet Hollywood. Sephora is the bomb. Just ask for a sample of either your favorite lotions or serums. Or go out on a limb and try something new. The consultants will set you up with some tiny samples to get you through the trip. If they don’t last, just head back the next day! And…ask for a makeover! The teams at these Vegas locations know what evening makeup should look like. They will do the makeover for free, show you how to apply everything and give you a new look for the night. Be sure to tip them and thank them! $5-$10 is plenty, depending on what you had done.

They even label the samples for you at Sephora!

Want cheap show tickets? Head to one of the many Tix 4 Tonight locations. I saw long lines there every morning, so be sure to plan ahead and get the tickets you really want. They sell half price show tickets as well as discounted tickets for popular shows.

Get up to half off the tickets of your choice in Vegas!

Do you want to get places fast and frugally during your days on the Vegas strip? Take the bus! This is not just any bus…it is the double-decker Deuce! The fleet of Deuces runs 24 hours a day. It is ONLY $7 per person per day. During the daylight hours you can find a bus every 12 minutes. If you are headed home from Mandalay Bay to the Wynn between 2 and 5 am for example, find a Deuce every 30 minutes. By that time you probably have no concept of time anyway so that wait will seem like nothing!

Hop on this double-decker all day for $7

Do you want to eat? This is a new deal I found very affordable and filling. The Buffet of Buffets is offered by Harrah’s hotels and get this, you can eat at any of their seven buffets as often as you like in 24 hours for only $39.99 per person! That is unreal. Just think…you could have a big breakfast at the fancy Paris buffet then walk to the Caesar’s Palace for a lunch buffet. But you feel like an afternoon snack and just want a couple crab legs or dessert. So stop in at the Rio, Flamingo or Planet Hollywood buffets and fill up again. Dinner? Go back to any of the same buffets or choose Harrah’s or Imperial Palace. If you really use this pass well, we are looking at only $13 per meal, not including your snack!

You will need to dance off that food. When you are walking the strip be sure to grab any nightclub passes being handed out. Read them carefully before you head to Haze, The Bank or Tryst. Sometimes the passes are not good on certain nights. When you check into your hotel ask for free passes to the in-house nightclubs because sometimes they are happy to hand you a few. And, always show your room key at the nightclub entrance if you are partying in your hotel. Many times the nightclubs will let you go to the front of the line, let you in free or both. They want you to stay in the hotel, gamble and party there. Have fun and take advantage of all that is available to you for free!

Take these whenever they are offered to you!
